Take a walk on any college campus in the state and you don't have to look very far to find students like freshman Justin Austin and sophomore April Davis. Both are students at Jackson State University and both rely on student loans to carry them through graduation.
"Financial aid didn't basically cover everything for me so I had to take out loans to actually come to school," said Austin.
"I have financial aid, but financial aid won't cover everything so some people don't have no choice but to get a student loan," said Davis.
In Mississippi average tuition is about $5,400 and it's only increasing, leaving more and more students going in debt before they have a degree. Once they do, it's time to pay the money back.
"Once everybody graduates from college, nine times out of ten I feel like they're not going to be financially stable to pay their loans back off," said Davis. Read Full Story
