Sites like Globe Student Discount, StudentRate and Academic Superstore offer deals on a wide variety of items. You'd expect discounts on computers and software, but how about on clothing, cellphone plans, eyeglasses, flowers or Halloween costumes?

FatWallet recently highlighted a number of student discounts on its blog. But spokesman Brent Shelton notes that the hottest prices are probably in the site's forums. In fact, it's usually students who post them.

"The trend is tilting to a younger group the last couple of years," Shelton says.
